The conference will be held in the Grand Jomtien Palace Hotel,
which is located on a quiet part of Jomtien Beach, which is located
south of Pattaya Beach.

Any message or personal information to the Organizing Committee and Local

Pattaya is located on the east coast of the Gulf of Thailand.
The weather in Pattaya during March is rather hot. The minimum temperature
is from 24 C deg. and the maximum could be 32 C deg.
It is the end of dry season and rainfall is not expected.
The ground surface is dried up and the sensible heat should be high.

Objectives
This conference aims to discuss the scientific issues
related to the water and energy cycles in monsoon Asia
and its relation to the global climate system.
Another important aim of this conference is to discuss and coordinate
the international cooperation related to the GAME
(GEWEX Asian Monsoon Experiment),
which is one of the major subprograms of the
GEWEX (Global Energy and Water Cycle Experiment).
The utilization of the data from future earth observational satellites,
such as ADEOS and TRMM, will also be focused on.

Call for Papers
Authors who wish to present a paper are kindly requested to
submit an abstract before 30th November, 1994.
One page comprehensive abstract in A4 or letter size paper
should be typed single spaced in English.
The paper title, author(s), complete name(s), their affiliations(s),
full mailing address(es) must be included.
An original copy of each abstract should be sent
to the Conference Secretariat.
Abstracts will be peer-reviewed before they are accepted.
Further notification of acceptance together with the third circular
will be sent to authors at the beginning of January, 1995.
A volume of abstracts will be ready at the conference.
Proceedings will also be published and be sent to all the participants
after the conference.
The authors are encouraged to bring their four pages of extended
abstracts to the conference.
If the authors have not submitted the
preliminary registration form
form yet, please complete
the Preliminary Registration Form and mail it to the
Conference Secretariat with the abstract.

Transportation
Pattaya is located 147 km southeast of Bangkok.
The transportation from Don Muang (Bangkok International) Airport
to the hotel will be arranged for the participants.
Please complete the
Accommodation Form and Transportation Form
and send it to the LOC in Thailand at your earliest convenience.
LOC is planning to hire a coach from
Don Muang Airport to Pattaya for big groups of foreign participants who
will arrive at the Don Muang Airport at more or less the same time.
However, for those who will arrive in a small group,
LOC suggests to take TG Limousine which costs about THB 1,500
for one way journey.
The tentative schedule of the coach for Pattaya is :
- Leave Bangkok Airport --> Arrive at Pattaya
- 5th March(Sun), 12:00 --> 14:00
- 5th March(Sun), 17:00 --> 19:00
- 5th March(Sun), 22:00 --> 24:00
The fixed schedule with detailed information
(time and place to meet, etc.) will be sent to those who submitted

to LOC in Thailand.

Registration Fee
With a volume of Abstracts and Proceedings :
- General :
- 20,000 Japanese Yen, US$ 200 or 5,000 Thai baat
- Student :
- 5,000 Japanese Yen, US$ 50 or 1,250 Thai baat
Payment shall be made at the conference,
by cash only.
Accommodation
Rooms are available at the hotel with the special conference rate.
Room charges with American breakfast and Buffet Lunch are :
- Single Use (per person) THB 1,200 / night
- Double Use (per two persons) THB 1,550 / night
Hundred Thai bahts (THB) cost approximately 4 US$ or 400 Japanese Yen.
Credit cards acceptable for the payment at the hotel are
VISA, MASTER and AMERICAN EXPRESS only.
All participants should complete the
Accommodation Form and Transportation Form
and send it to the LOC in Thailand.
A brochure of the Hotel will be sent to the participants
together with the confirmation letter of the accommodation.
The organizing committee has decided to fund a limited number of delegates
from developing countries for the exemption of registration
fee and/or for the accommodation. No more additional funding
is available now.
Poster Presentations
Due to the many participants, this conference has been set principally
as a poster conference.
Participants are kindly requested to bring their
comprehensive posters to the conference.
The boards for the poster presentations are arranged
at the backside of the conference room,
and 60 minutes will be allocated for the poster session including break.
One board size is approximately 90 cm x 90 cm.
Please clearly display the title of the presentation and your name(s)
on the board. Posters should be legible one meter away from the board.
Oral Presentations
Following equipments will be available for oral presentations:
- One overhead projector for transparent sheets and
- one 35mm slide projector.
The conference room is quite large with the chairs for
approximately 400 people.
Please note this point in preparing your presentation materials :
- Please use Large and bold letters
on the viewgraph.
- Do not make the figures too complicated
Total 60(30+30) minutes will be allocated for the two keynotes
in each session, including 20(10+10) minutes of discussion.
Only 5 minutes will be allocated for the briefing of each poster papers,
and discussions shall be done during the break in front of the posters.
Please do not use more than 7 viewgraphs for the briefing.
Details of the presentation should be addressed at the posters.
Call for Papers of Post-Proceedings
All poster and oral contributors are encouraged to submit an
extended abstract of no more than 4 pages (including
figures or tables) within the space of 16cm x 22cm on good-quality
A4 size white sheets.
The abstract has to be in final, camera-ready format
one-side only, with name(s) of authors.
Sample format is sent to the participants with the third circular.
The authors are kindly requested to bring their extended abstract
to the Conference.
