Introduction

Prof. Matsumoto, Univ. of Tokyo, Japan, has been collecting routine meteorological observation data from several countries in Asia. This dataset is one of his achievement. In Bangladesh, BMD continues to maintain several weather stations and now data from 29 stations in 1997-2002 are available. BMD Officer, however, says that data for 2000, 2001 and 2002 has not been adequately checked on their quality. See metadata table shown below.

Data for 1998 are free for research purpose, but for other years, please contat the DB Manager .

  • Currently files only for 1998 rainfall are opened to public
  • As for daily rainfall data, BMD documents says that :
    Data observed in 2000 and 2001 (snip) is different format and these data are not enough to evaluate in this version.
    Unusual values are still not removed in this dataset.
