This Workshop aims to summarize GEWEX Asian Monsoon Experiment (GAME)-Tropics (GAME-T) 1st Phase (1996-2001) through discussion on the fruitful results of GAME-T 1st Phase. In addition, future plans will be discussed for the international collaborative studies on the energy and water cycles over Southeast Asia in the next phase.

The first part of this Workshop will be arranged for a series of summarizing lectures of GAME-T 1st Phase. The second part will be arranged for general presentations related to GAME/GAME-T. The third part will be held jointly with the 1st International GAME-AAN (Asian Automatic weather station Network)/Radiation Workshop.

Many participants in Thailand, Japan and other countries, interested in researchrelated to the above topics, are expected to contribute to the Workshop.

• 5th March
  • A series of invited keynote lectures is planned to be provided a sasummary of GAME-T 1st phase.
  • A certificate for taking the lectures will be granted to each participant.
  • Future plans will be discussed after these summarizing lectures.
• 6th-7th March
  • General presentations by participants are planned. Expected topics are listed below.
    • Climatology over Southeast Asia
    • Water resources in the countires of Southeast Asia
    • Remote sensing for hydro-meteorological applications
    • Analysis of atmospheric (rawinsonde) observation
    • Analysis of radar observation
    • Hydrological observation and analysis (water balance studies)
    • Radiation and aerosols over Southeast Asia
    • Hydrological modeling
    • Atmospheric modeling and climate modeling
    • GPS observation and analysis
    • Others
  • 15-minute presentation and 5-minute discussion will be arranged for each speaker in general.
• 7th March (GAME-T and GAME-AAN joint session)
  • Studies on 1-dimensional land-surface flux observation in GAME-T region will be presented at the joint session between GAME-T and GAME-AAN.
  • Researchers who are in charge of land-surface flux observation are expected to present their results in this sesssion.

Participants of the Workshop are invited to present a paper on topics under areas of concern. Authors who wish to present a paper are kindly requested to complete the attached Registration Form and mail it to one of the Workshop offices respectively before 20th December,2000. Abstract proceedings of the Workshop will be published after the Workshop. For the proceedings, two-page abstracts are requested to be submitted before the Workshop. Longer abstracts can be submitted. The deadline and others are described below.

A two-page (or longer up to 6-page) comprehensive abstract in A4 should be typed single spaced in English. The paper title, author(s), complete name(s), their affiliation(s), full mailing address(es) must be included. A copy of each abstract should be submitted to the Workshop secretariat (i.e. no later than 30th January,2001) A program of the Workshop will be available on :
