Population data from CIESIN : 0.5 degree unit

Description

Obtained 2.5-min population data from CIESIN, and summarized it to 0.5deg grid globally. Future prediction was carried out using UN intermediate population prediction.

Basically CIESIN population data is not consistent with TRIP 0.5deg dataset: i.e. some 'residents' in CIESIN dataset along coast line is regarded as living in 'ocean' gridcell under TRIP dataset. Dr. Kanae adjusted this difference by 'moving' some inhabitants in the dataset.

Data

  1. Past/Present Population of each time slice, not adjusted to TRIP coast line

  2. Future Population of each time slice, not adjusted to TRIP coast line. Made from CIESIN 1995 data and UN intermediate population prediction

  3. Change in Population between 2050 and 1995. Datasets used are shown above (not adjusted to TRIP seacoast)

  4. Population (Land/sea boundary is adjusted to 0.5deg TRIP. Some 'moves' of residents were carried out. Made by Dr. Kanae, May 15, 2002.
