Data distribution (on CD)
The atmospheric forcing and
surface/soil/vegetation parameter data are now available on CD. The
default format is netCDF using the Assistance for
Land-surface Modelling Activities (ALMA) convention for the
variables and units. If you are not on our mailing list (and we have
not heard from you before) and wish to obtain a copy of the data,
please contact us.
The CD cover is shown above: the total annual
rainfall and snowfall averaged over the period from Aug. 1, 1985
through July 31, 1989 are shown. The grid-box average altitude is
contoured at 500 m intervals using progressively thicker lines with
increasing altitude. The Rhone-AGG intercomparison project is an
initiative within the GEWEX/GLASS (Global
Land-Atmosphere System Study: Polcher et al. 2000)/GSWP (Global Soil Wetness
Project: Dirmeyer et
al. 1999) panel of the WCRP.
Software for plotting the data in netCDF format
A Pvwave program is available for reading in
the Rhone-AGG input data on the CD. The program uses the available
masks to plot the data on a 2-dimensional grid. It can be obtained
from the ALMA Software
Bazaar site This program was written by Florence Habets (habets@meteo.fr). We plan on
making a NCAR graphics program available in the near future if
interest warrants. If you have develop a program using another
software package (GMT, GrADS, IDL, etc...) which you think might be useful
to others for the Rhone-AGG project, please contact us and we will make it freely
available to other users/participants. |
